We are excited to announce our first new signing for next season - Shannon Kearns!

Although we are still waiting to find out if we will be playing in State League 5, Dale has already begun planning for the forthcoming campaign, and is a very happy coach tonight. "Shannon is a major coup for the Club" said Dale, "he has great quality, composure and tactical awareness, and will add goals and assists to an already strong attacking lineup. We want to focus on finding and developing local talent and Shannon is the perfect addition to the squad for 2018"

Shannon has previously played for West Adelaide Hellas, Ballarat City, Deakin University and Golden Plains, winning multiple club and league best & fairest awards as well as playing for regional and state representative teams for both South Australia and Victoria.

When asked what brings him to Barwon, Shannon said "New challenges and old acquaintances brought me to Barwon for the upcoming 2018 season. I have Dale to thank for the kick-start to my footballing career, back when I was in the academy at Red Devils in Ballarat. It was Dale who brought me up into the senior reserve squad during our NPL 2 season. From here I spent several years with the Red Devils (now known as Ballarat City) before moving to Geelong. I only got to work with Dale for a short stint before he moved on, so having the opportunity to play under him again was an easy decision. Seeing the success of Barwon’s season last year certainly helped my decision with a promising squad starting to develop to challenge for promotion in state 5. I’ve learnt a lot from my previous clubs and am extremely grateful for the opportunities, but I believe this is the right step for me to take and I am looking forward to the next challenge"
